Original CDV of Snd Lieutenant John Belmont Dague (1836-1929), 88th O.V.I.
Signed in ink on the image, "J.B. Dague, Ashley, O.". Dague is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola, Iowa.
Dague was promoted to 2nd Lieut on August 24, 1864. When Lincoln's body was in Ohio, he was one of 8 pallbearers assigned to guard the body. There is plenty of info to be found online... in this listing I have included screenshots of newspaper clippings that I have found online. The screenshots are included in this listing for reference only and hard copies of them are not included.
CDV 4" x 2.5". The mount has some wear, as shown, though the image itself is in very good antique condition. The writing at the top of the CDV is in light pencil and easily erasable.
Boxed & insured PRIORITY MAIL.
