Original full plate (8.5" x 6.5") painted tintype of a child with a toy ball placed between his hands.. notice he is not actually holding it. I also suspect that the child's mother, or even a covered brace, pillows, etc, that would have been helping support the child in this upright position, was painted over by the artist.
This tintype has some areas of rust, mostly in spots on the back and corners, however, as far as bends go it is in excellent condition, with no noticeable bends.
