Quarter-plate daguerreotype of a group reading a book, with the woman in front looking at the camera and smiling! Written on the silk pad is a date: October 25, 1851.
Housed in its original hinged, green leather case that measures 5.25" x 4" when closed.
Condition: Case is in very good condition overall and complete, though the old wood covers are slightly warped so they don't close completely (haven't tried to force them).
The dag is in overall very good condition. It has been very professionally resealed at one point, but could probably benefit from a cleaning of the glass and reseal, because there is dust and tiny bits of fuzz stuck to the underside of the glass (the white specks seen in my scan). Light tarnish ring; one or two very small mat abrasions that do not affect the image in any way and that are hard to spot.
Shipping: Boxed & insured Priority Mail.
