Original 1870s tintype, identified on the back. This tintype is out of the family album of Civil War Brig General Thomas Foster Gallagher, and I believe this man was one of his brothers. The name on this is hard to read but I think this man was most likely George Gallagher, born 1824, died 1896. Lived in New Alexandria, PA at this time. Thomas had several brothers, but based on the age est of this man and the tintype date, I think George is the most likely identity.
Mount is 4" x 2.5". Tintype is in excellent undamaged condition. That line is original emulsion artifact, and has been there since the image was created... it's not damage of any kind.
