Original c1863-4 1/6 tintype of two young Civil War soldiers, their arms interlocked. Both are wearing painted gold accent jewelry, buttons, chains, etc. Behind mat and glass in excellent antique condition. Case is missing the cover. Behind the image is a great folded up note with some writing visible. The note in part mentions fighting in the war and being wounded at Gettysburg and meeting a rebel who "saved each others skin". It starts of with the word "These", so there were probably multiple images at one time, which might explain other parts of the note. On the other side of the note the writing says something about how to return the image(s) if found and there is an impression of an 1830s-1850s Liberty Head one-cent piece on the paper, perhaps to cover return postage. Note has been placed back behind the image as found and will be included. Boxed and insured Priority Mail. Discounted Express optional.
