Sixth-plate, 1850s daguerreotype of a well-dressed bearded man. Original seals are intact, though it it UNCASED.
Based on other identified photos I picked up with this one, I believe it's extremely likely that this man was Lyman Frank Varrell (born 1830), a fisherman who lived in Biddeford, Maine. His father Nathaniel was the lightkeeper of the Wood Island lighthouse there, and when he died unexpectedly, Lyman took over his father's lightkeeper post for a few years.
This dag has a tarnish ring, and is in very good to excellent antique condition.
