Original CDV of Colonel Charles S. Bulkley, soldier and military engineer who served as the chief of the US Signal Service during the war. In 1865 he led the US Western Union Telegraph Expedition (AKA The Russian Telegraph Expedition) to survey and construct a telegraph line from the US to Europe through the Bering Strait and Russia.

Bulkley's name brings up many interesting hits on Google, plus there is additional info about his service written on the back, in pencil.

CDV is 4" x 2.5" and in very good antique condition. Signed in ink on the front. # Sorry for that weird watermark in the bottom-right side.. it's obviously NOT on the original image that you will receive.
