Sixth-plate daguerreotype.. looks like he's wearing a type of bridge coat with vest? Very confident pose... he might have been somebody notable..( or just considered himself to be...)
Dag is in very good or better antique condition with a tarnish ring including that heavy vertical line of tarnish on the right side. The original seals have dried up and fallen down into the case, but besides the tarnish the
plate appears completely undamaged.
No location given on this image, but it was picked up along with another daguerreotype
that was taken by Portland, Maine photographer Samuel L. Carleton. This dag DOES NOT have a studio mark, but it's possible, based on the Carleton dag, that this was taken in and around Portland, as well.
Original seals appear to be intact. Full, complete leather case with no repairs, double clasps, separated covers.
Shipping: US: Boxed Priority Mail.
