Rare circa 1880-1881 stereoview photograph of what appears to be an anti-President Garfield and VP Chester Arthur rally of some sort, showing a large group of men and boys standing in front of an unidentified building.
In the foreground on a wagon, underneath a "Garfield and Arthur" sign, sits a stuffed dummy of Garfield, and a live dog representing Arthur! The wheelbarrow they are being paraded around on is festooned with many US flags. To the left of the main scene is a second wheelbarrow with the words, "Pony Express" on the side.
Stereoview is approximately 7" x 4" with blank back, as produced. No location or photographer known. Very good antique condition overall, as shown.. normal light aging/soiling and edge and corner wear.
