Rare CDV of James Sharman, one of the last survivors of the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. He was a sailor on board the HMS Victory with Horatio Lord Nelson, and was one of the men who carried Nelson below deck after his mortal injury during the battle.
Sharman is seen wearing his medals, and on the table next to him is his top hat with the ship's name on it: VICTORY. Sharman died in 1867.... this CDV might have been made upon news of his death.
