Sixth-plate daguerreotype, marble bust of a man in profile. I believe, and I was also told by another collector, independently, that this is a bust of Roman Emperor Julius Caesar, though he is not identified anywhere on the image or case. The artist is also unidentified, but it resembles the work of the famous sculptors Erastus Dow Palmer or Hiram Powers.
Dag is in excellent condition in full leather case. The underside of the glass is foggy and dirty, but the original seals are still intact and it's clear that the image is in excellent, undamaged condition. I do not see any damage, corrosion, dings, or mold spiders. Lightly tarnished.
