Original 1850s quarter-plate ambrotype of a Scottish Highland dancing girl. There is a chair partially visible near the right-bottom of the scene. Her dress and hair still have original red tinting.
Housed in its original thermoplastic case, with a raised design on its covers, showing a lady on a horse, and a dog.
It is a clear glass ambrotype with a piece of black velvet in the case to bring out the image. The case is about 5" x 4" when closed. The case is complete and has some edge chips and the pad is loose! Overall the case is in good antique condition.
