Rare original photo of Jacob H. Rothenberger (1833-1916), a prominent Leavenworth, Kansas pioneer who served as a councilman, acting Mayor sheriff and police chief of of the city. He also fought in the Civil War, First Kansas Infantry. He is buried at Mount Muncie Cemetery in Leavenworth County.
Mount is 10" x 7". Photo was taken in the 1890s by Leavenworth photographer Bauer. Rothenberger is shown wearing a couple of medals, possibly a sheriff's badge.
Very good antique condition overall, light age-related wear and stains.
