1/6, mid-1840s daguerreotype of a man in uniform identified as Walter Gwynn with a period note and an obituary that identifies him as General Walter Gwynn, who died in 1882 and is buried at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, VA. The obit appears to be referring to the Confederate BG Walter Gwynn, born in 1802.

This dag is part of a collection of images of the Gwynn / Halyburton families of Richmond, Virginia, some of which I have already listed here over the last several months. Judge James Dandridge Halyburton was the highest Judge in the Confederacy during the Civil War.. the Halyburtons were related by marriage to the Gwynn side, though Halyburton's wife, Anne E. Giles, whose mother was Frances Ann Gwynn Giles.

Dag mat is stamped PLUMBE in lower-right corner... it would make sense that this was Plumbe's Richmond, Virginia studio.

Full case, unsealed, in VG antique condition with a heavy tarnish ring on plate.

Shipping: FedEx overnight.
