Sixteenth-plate ambrotype behind mat and glass in full, push-button leather case.
Leather case is only about 2" tall when closed.
There is no location or ID with this image, but it was from a small lot of photos out of Massachusetts, one of which was marked with a Boston studio.. so I believe this was taken in or around Boston as well. Pic 1 taken with cell phone in bright daylight, the second is a direct scan.
Overall in very good antique condition with one or two tiny defects, nicks or mat abrasions. Hinged case is complete and functions perfectly with some light wear to the leather, as seen.
