(Be sure to check out my other listing for additional CDVs of this woman, one of which was also sent to and inscribed by her brother during the war. Just search XIV)

Original CDV of a woman, signed "Frank C. Hood" (full name, Frances Caroline Hood, later Frances Corbett) on the front, with Brady's imprint and original handwritten notation on the back:

"May the angels of heaven guard and protect you always is the constant prayer of your sister Frank C. Hood, Madison, Wisconsin"

And below, the soldier, her brother Charles Crook Hood, Jr., wrote:

"Camp near Triune, Tenn. April 20, 1863
I received this most valuable testimonial of sisterly love and affection on yesterday evening - Charles C. Hood, Jr.
Co. B, Light Battalion
1st Brigade, 3rd Division
14th Army Corps"

From online: On March 5, 1863, troops under the command of Union General Steadman of the 14th Army Corps began constructing what became a massive series of earthworks, located several miles east of Franklin on the hills overlooking Triune, Tennessee. These works consisted of three artillery redoubts on the tops of the highest hills and several miles of interlinking breastworks. The camps for the more than 10,000 men stationed there were located nearby.

I believe Hood survived the war and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

This CDV has a couple of condition issues, mainly being the bottom half of the image is lifting from the mount, and the bottom-right corner of the image is missing. Light soiling. Otherwise VG antique condition. 4" x 2.5".
