Two original photos of Jacob H. Rothenberger (1833-1916), a prominent Leavenworth, Kansas pioneer who served as a councilman, acting Mayor sheriff and police chief of of the city. He also fought in the Civil War, First Kansas Infantry. He is buried at Mount Muncie Cemetery in Leavenworth County.
The photos are: an approximate 4" x 2.5" CDV by Leavenworth, Kansas photographer J.T. Mason, the second a huge cabinet photo measuring 10" x 7" taken in the 1890s by Leavenworth photographer Bauer. In this large photo he is wearing a couple of medals, possibly a sheriff's badge.
Very good antique condition overall, light age-related wear and stains. The large one has NO creases or serious damage, surprisingly, for its size.
BOXED shipping: Choice of First Class or Priority Mail.
