Large ambrotype on ruby glass, in its original 7" x 5.5" hanging case - this is a complete case meant for hanging, it's not missing its cover. On the back is the logo of brothers G & D Hay, Edinburgh, Scotland, in gold.
Some spotting, but overall in very good antique condition. Note that the bottom edge of the image is just visible above the bottom of the mat.. it's secure and does not slide around though. I took two quick photos with my cell phone's flash turned on, to help reduce reflections and show detail.
