Large (7.75" x 6.5", including case) daguerreotype of Edmund Jones (1797–1866) and his wife Charlotte (Kingsbury) Jones (1802-1869), photographed sometime around 1855. They were married in 1817, so it's possible this was their 40th anniversary photo. Edmund was the owner of the Jones Hotel at 31 Park Row, New York City. The couple are identified by a period handwritten note taped to the back of the case. Forgot to take a pic of this, but can add on request.
Mat has Gurney's studio imprints in the lower-left and lower-right corners.
The dag is in overall very good antique condition. It has a tarnish ring and scattered light colored haze or tarnish? spots as shown. No swipes or scratches noted. It has been resealed with archival tape. The case is missing its cover, otherwise very good.
