Original cabinet card, early-1890s, showing a woman feeding her pet pig... her bonnet has been placed on the fence post behind her. Unusual subject matter! On the back is written, "Grand Mother Kertley".

The photographer was H.O. Schroeter, who operated a floating studio on the Green River & Rough River from about 1890 to 1920.

Found online:

"One of the most colorful characters on the river was a successful photographer
named H. O. Schroeter.  He was called the Artist of the Emerald Wave.  He and his
family lived on his floating studio which had a parlor, sitting room, dining room,
bedrooms, kitchen and artist’s studio.”  Schroeter claimed the reason his prints
did not fade was that he washed them in the mineral-rich Green River.  He placed
them in a fish box alongside the studio.  He and his sons, Emory and Clifford,
did most of the photography on the boat but occasionally went ashore to a
customer’s home".

Cabinet card is 6.5" x 4.25". Light aging and staining on the front. The back is
rough with scuffs and residue.. it was probably glued into an album at one time.
None of this affects the image. I forgot to scan the back but can do so on request.
