Original 6th plate daguerreotype in half of its original push-button case. Pretty girl wearing gold necklace, locket and ring.
Mat is stamped "J. Gurney 549 Broadway" in the lower-right corner. Written on the inside of the case is "Nov 1854".
Very good antique condition, with a tarnish ring and some very light haze / hazy tarnish in the background, but no swipes, dings or corrosion noted. Those little spots up against the mat edge at about 5 o'clock.. under magnification it appears the bulk of it is a little piece of fuzz, but there are also a couple of very tiny abrasions in there.. they are inside the tarnish ring and hard to see unless you're looking under magnification, so not a huge issue. Dag has been resealed with archival tape; the original broken up seals are inside.
