Here is an interesting display of three ambrotypes behind an original, frosted / painted piece of glass with three openings for the portraits. These appear to be three separate approximately 1/9 plate ambrotypes. The frosted glass has a diagonal crack through it, but the ambrotypes are undamaged, as far as cracks go.. they have some light surface wear and age related discoloration, however. On top of the frosted class is a mat and cover glass, and all is housed in a period, half plate thermoplastic wall frame.

This piece has damages, as shown, including repaired cracks and wear to the frame. The package has been temporarily taped back together.. the whole piece is in need of a proper restoration, particularly to stabilize the ambrotypes... note that I will pack very carefully but I can't promise that the ambrotypes will still be in place when they arrive.. they might need to reset upon arrival.. maybe not.

All in all an unusual and rare piece that is in need of a bit of care.
