Tintype of Civil War soldier Joseph Linscott (1822-1866) accompanied by a small gem tintype of his wife Sarah P. Hodgkins Linscott (1822-1864).
Linscott enlisted in Company G, Maine 20th Volunteer Infantry Regiment on August 29, 1862; served as hospital steward, later promoted to Full Corporal. Mustered out on June 15, 1864. 20th Maine, Co. G, fought at Gettysburg.
Tintype is behind original mat and glass and lightly held to the album page with his and his wife's names written above. I have a positive ID on him based on other family members in the album, including his daughter Emma Ambler and son-in-law.
Dimensions including frame are a little under 3.5" x 2.25"; album page is about 4.75" x 3.5". Condition is excellent with no bends or damage noted. Contrast is not a 10, but details are all total visible. I have provided cell phone pics taken with and without flash and uploaded direct to this listing with no editing. When viewed in good lighting this tintype should look at least as good as my non-flash photo (#1) and probably pretty close to my flash photo (#2).
