Original framed albumen photograph showing the Hayden Survey of the Territories led by the pioneering geologist
and surveyor Ferdinand V. Hayden.

From left to right, the men are: the explorer and geologist William Henry Holmes, surveyor George B. Chittenden,
(Mount Chittenden in Yellowstone is named after him) F.V. Hayden, the famous naturalist and explorer Ernest
Ingersoll and the pioneering western photographer William Henry Jackson.

Auction photo #3 is a photo shows the back cover of the book, " Strange Genius: The Life of Ferdinand Vandeveer Hayden ", which shows a print of the original image offered here! Aside from the original I am offering here, printsare all I've personally ever seen. According to the caption, the print belongs to the Colorado Historical Society. * The book cover is for reference only and not included.

The deep walnut frame is about 14" tall by 11.5" wide and is ready to hang with original wire. Photo is behind original glass. It has minor issues and a light stain (which I know can be restored) and which seems a bit exaggerated in my photos in comparison to the image in person.... also note that at some point it looks like somebody colored in a small area of image loss near the center. None of the issues come across as serious when viewing the image in person but please study the close-ups and let me know if you have any questions or need better pics.. I took some quick ones with my cell phone because this does not fit on my scanner. I have never opened the back to see what might be on the back of the image, if anything.

The visible part of the photo is about 10" x 8".

Shipping: TBD by seller at time of sale.
