![[ GUTEKUNST Philadelphia ] Fine 1/4 Ambrotype Man Wearing Glasses Leather Case](http://store.thanatos.net/cdn/shop/products/57_2_588d6c78-5aec-4ee3-948a-42065430d26b_{width}x.jpg?v=1602353691)
Original quarter-plate ambrotype of a dignified, bearded older man wearing spectacles. His cheeks have been tinted a light pink. Possibly a political figure of some kind.
Mat is stamped "AMBROTYPE BY GUTEKUNST 706 ARCH ST" in the lower-left corner and "PATENTED JULY 4 & 11.54" in the lower-right corner.
Housed a very nice, pebbled leather book style case that is in very good to excellent antique condition with light leather wear. Case is approximately 5" x 4.25" when closed. Ambrotype is in very good antique condition. It's a clear glass ambrotype with the image sealed and protected between two pieces of glass and a piece of black velvet in side of the case. Weirdly, I see a couple of scratches, in the background left and in the upper-right close to the mat.. strange because as I said above, the emulsion is protected between the two pieces of glass, which appear to still be firmly sealed together with their original adhesive. The white spots are smudges on the glass or reflections.
Boxed shipping, choice of First Class or Priority Mail.
