This original case was made about 1857. Its covers show a great family scene of a woman and her daughter posing with the family dog and cat. On the inside is a nice purple velvet pad on one side, and on the other, two spaces for holding 1/9 (ninth-plate) images. Case is dark brown and measures about 4.75" x 3" when closed.
Overall in very good antique condition. Hinges are tight, velvet pad is in excellent condition, case is clean inside and out, clicks and stays closed. There is a chip over the top clasp as shown, but this does not affect the functionality of the case in any way. One or two tiny age-related hairline cracks.
Boxed shipping.
