Early-1840s, 6th plate daguerreotype of a woman wearing a bonnet and holding a small book, with her finger marking a page. A small table with tablecloth design is partially visible, possibly enough to determine the photographer. This was out of a Decatur, Georgia estate, but no location or ID is included.

Plate is stamped "SCOVILLS" in the bottom-left corner. In half of a case behind mat and cover glass.

Pic #1 of this listing is a raw scan, uploaded direct from my scanner with no editing of any kind. Pics 2 and 3 are cell phone photos with flash to help show detail and reduce reflections on cover glass.

Dag is in good or better antique condition... most of the surface is lightly tarnished and it has a tarnish ring. Right above the book is an area of tiny copper corrosion specks. I do not see any scratches, swipes or mat abrasions. The dag is unsealed, with some remnants of the original seals still inside of the case.
