Wow.. here is an early-1840s QUARTER-PLATE daguerreotype of a young man and an older woman, who I assume was his mother. I would date this image to 1841-1843! Early, rectangular, gold paper mat. Housed in its original leather, flip-top case with embossed lines and flowers on its top cover. Case is approximately 4.5" x 3.5" when closed. The hook clasp is present and it's in overall very good antique condition, especially for its age. The only issue of note is that the top two corners on the image side are slightly separating, however, the rail is currently stable and secure. The daguerreotype has a tarnish ring and random tarnish spots, but appears to be completely undamaged. The original seals are INTACT. The seals that the photographer used was some kind of financial document.. there are quite a few readable words on it. Shipping: Boxed & insured PRIORITY MAIL. Express Mail option also available at checkout.
