1850s daguerreotype brooch of a man, included with a lock of his hair and two notes, written by his daughter(s). On the outside of the box he is identified as Stan Johnson.
The larger note reads, "Fathers picture in pin when he (was) young + a piece of fathers hair. Father Johnson." Smaller note: "Father's 84th Birthday - May 12, 1911". The printed logo on the box reads, "Schipper & Block, Peoria, Illinois".
Brooch is about 1.5" and looks to be complete with its cover glass, pin, and pin holder. Both the dag and the brooch are tarnished, but the dag plate itself doesn't look damaged.
