Sixth-plate daguerreotype of a sickly woman photographed in a high-backed chair, probably needed to help support her head. She is wearing an object on a ribbon around her neck and her eyes seem odd, looking off to one side. It has been suggested that this is a post mortem photograph, but I don't believe so.... could very well be a "premortem" image, however.
The plate is tarnished, but other than a few tiny mat abrasions is in good condition with no heavy damage. It's been resealed with archival tape and is in a full and complete leather case with repaired spine.
