Ninth-plate (1/9) ambrotype of a soldier.. under magnification it looks like the buttons of his jacket still have some gold paint on them.
He's not identified but this was part of a very small lot of ambrotypes purchased together, and one of the other sitters was identified as "Grandmother Hatfield"... so it's possible he was a Hatfield.
Behind mat and glass in full case, complete with clasp, covers separated along spine. Ambrotype is in very good antique condition. Those light areas on his jacket and under his chin are not damage to the image emulsion.... the black paint on the back of the glass has just flaked away there, so those areas appear lighter in my scan... the image itself is not damaged.
Pic #1 is a scan, Pic #2 is a cell phone photo using flash, which should give a better idea of how this image looks in good lighting/daylight.
Shipping: First Class (flat photo mailer). Boxed Priority Mail also available at checkout.
