Original CDV of a Civil War surgeon. This photo was out of an album that identified him as "Uncle Lockwood Welsh, surgeon, Civil War".
I've researched the family and based on other names in the album, can ID this man as Doctor Isaac Lockwood Welsh, assistant surgeon, 25th New York Volunteer Infantry. Mustered in December 16, 1862, at Albany, New York, for 3 years, age 39, as 1st lieutenant. Listed as present from December 1862 to April 26, 1863. Welsh was born December 9, 1823 in Albany, New York, died June 23, 1878 in Jersey City, New Jersey.
On the back in pencil is a name, "Louisa" (probably sent to his sister Caroline Louisa Welsh) along with a New York studio imprint. 4" x 2.5".
Shipping: First Class photo mailer. Boxed Priority Mail also available at checkout.
