Rare Smithsonian Institution stereoview titled "Indian Chief", a wax mannequin of Oglala Teton Sioux chief Red Cloud taken at the Smithsonian's Castle building. It is the earliest Plains mannequin in the museum. The face appears to have been modeled after Alexander Gardner's 1872 photo of Red Cloud during a delegation visit.
He is wearing a wonderful War shirt and Buffalo horn headdress, drum and dance rattle. Copyrighted along the left edge, 1873 - by Charles Pollock, with info about the Smithsonian on the back.
Very good or better antique condition with light mount wear. Dimensions are 7 by 3.75".
