Ernest J. Bellocq (American/New Orleans, 1873-1949), silver gelatin print, unsigned, 10" x 8". Paper is medium weight I would say.
I'm not an expert on the various Bellocq prints, but was told this print was made by Dan Leyrer from the original negatives in the early 1960s, and there appears to be some age-related silvering along the perimeter to show that it is vintage, and not a recent reprint. I purchased this print from a very reputable New Orleans auction house about 10-15 years ago. The previous owner purchased it from Harmanson's Art and Book Store in New Orleans in the early-1970s.
Overall it's in very good vintage condition with a light curl, a bumped corner, a few very tiny crinkles. It's been shrink-wrapped on board from the time I purchased it until I opened it to take pics for this listing.
