Impressive full-plate ambrotype in its original period wall frame showing an older man in full masonic regalia, holding sword, with a great skull and crossbones insignia on his apron.
Frame is good or better antique condition with some mostly minor losses.
Ready to hang, with wire on back. The ambrotype is good or better antique condition overall, nice and sharp, lots of detail. It's an early ambrotype, where the image layer is protected between two pieces of glass that are sealed together. This process frequently caused a defect often referred to as "air pockets" in between the pieces of glass. In this case, a large portion of this image is affected (best seen in photo #3), however, it is mostly visible at an angle and does not detract from the overall image. If you have any questions about this, please ask before purchasing.
