Original c.1890 cabinet card of two sisters wearing advertising dresses. On the back in period pencil the girls are identified: "Jennie Dalzell - left" "Nettie Dalzell - right" Jennie (Jenny) M. Dalzell Paullin was born in 1867 and died in 1939. Nettie F. Dalzell Atchinson was born in 1865 and died in 1948. Nettie's dress has the word CARR on it, as well as a pair of tiny scissors pinned to the front of her dress, and I recognize that hashtag looking symbol thing on her shoulder as something used in tailoring/sewing, etc, but I don't know what it's called. Nellie was almost certainly advertising the services of Miss Mollie Carr, who was an area dressmaker and seamstress at the time. Jennie is wearing a top hat with a band.. there are words on the band but I can't make them out. She is also holding a walking stick and has some small items pinned down the front of her dress, but I don't know what they are... 6.5" x 4.25" with blank back, as produced. Very good antique condition. Boxed Priority Mail shipping.
