Original CDV of an African American man, photographed in Fall River, Massachusetts,  circa 1865. He looks very familiar, possibly a well-known abolitionist or somebody associated with the Underground Railroad, both of which were active in Fall River at the time, which was also home to the Fall River Female Anti-Slavery Society.

Civil War revenue stamp on the back, hand-cancelled in ink handwriting with the words, "Peoples Gallery".

CDV is 4" x 2.5" with lightly clipped upper corners. Some stains and very light crinkles on the back.
