1/9 ambrotype, in a rare "rounded square" style velvet, presentation style case. Based on ID'd photos picked up with this image, he was probably a member of the Slocum / Pitkin family of New York State and Pennsylvania. Ambrotype is in very good condition, case has some light wear to parts of the velvet and doesn't click closed, but I think that's because the image is sitting a bit high.
