[ MARKS ] Pretty ID'd Teen Girl LUCY ABBOTT Died Young ~ Maryland Daguerreotype

Sixth-plate daguerreotype of Lucy Fay Abbott (14 November 1831 – 8 January 1850), identified by a period note pinned to the pad and stamped MARKS on the bottom of the mat. 

The note reads:

Died Jan 8th 1850

19 years old

Lucy was one seven children wealthy Maryland area businessman Horace Abbott, whose company was known for producing iron for the Civil War effort. The enormous Abbott mansion in Baltimore became Baltimore City College in 1926.

Daguerreotype is in full leather case. It has been taped along one side, enabling you to open it up and view the bare plate without removing the mat. Overall its in very good antique condition with some mat abrasions.
