Original quarter-plate daguerreotype of two young cadets holding rifles with fixed bayonets. Their buttons, buckles, insignia are painted gold, and the pom-poms on their shakos look like they are colored blue.
Dag is housed in full leather case, with BOGARDUS / GREENWICH CORNER / BARCLAY N.Y. imprinted on the back cover. Dag has been resealed with archival tape in 2024. Condition of the plate: tarnish ring, a few tiny mat abrasions tight up against the mat; some very light vertical wipes are visible when viewed at some angles but they did not show up in my scan and I cannot see them when viewing the dag normally, only when tilted. Case covers are matching, but separated along the spine. Case is in good condition with some wear to the leather.
