Two cased 1/9th plate relievo "sphereotype" ambrotypes of the same woman, one with mat stamped "C.L. Howe", the other with no marking, but likely also by Howe, who seemed to be a favorite photographer of this particular family.
In both cases, the glass images have been placed above their mats, giving them a bit of a floating appearance. In addition, the backs of the glass have been painted in "silhouette" style to create what is the "relievo" effect. The photo with her hair up also has a pink card placed in the case to give the background space a rosy coloration... interesting!

The ambrotypes are in overall very good antique condition. The cases are overall nice with intact spines, however the left rail on the "hair down" image has separated.. should be an easy fix with glue.
