Original tintype photo of Washington Crawford Peacock (Aug 15, 1843 - Jan 22, 1912),
wearing a tinted blue tie and identified on the back along with a location of Cuthbert, Georgia.
Crawford fought in the Civil War, 55th Georgia Infantry, Co. G - "Jackson Avengers". He was captured at Cumberland Gap, Tennessee on September 9, 1863, and was confined at Camp Douglas, Illinois from Sep 15, 1863 until June 13, 1865. I bet this tintype was taken shortly after his release, either in Illinois or back home in Georgia. Mount has Potter's March 1865 patent date embossed along its right edge.
4" x 2.5" mount. Very good or better antique condition with light soiling.
Shipping: Choice of First Class (flat photo mailer) or boxed Priority Mail.
