Original CDV of a man with a long goatee photographed in semi profile. Not sure if that's a military jacket he's wearing but this is Civil War era, c.1865. Photographed by Tobias of Frederick, Maryland. He is not identified, but this was picked up along with a collection of photos of the Middleton family who lived in Washington, D.C. and Frederick at this time.
CDV is 4" x 2.5" and in very good antique condition overall.. light soiling, and on the back, the upper-right tip has some surface layer loss, but is stable.
