Original CDV of a pretty mixed race woman wearing a long braid and a large brooch of Benjamin Franklin, a slave owner who became a devoted abolitionist.
The writing on the back, '"Ninky", Ann Davenport's Friend"' was made by me... this was taken from a very poor condition album, and I copied down the original writing that was on the album page beneath this woman's photo. On the page opposite was a CDV (now sold) of Ann Davenport, who was also a mixed race, white and African American woman. I had to look this up, but "Ninky" was a nickname used back then for mixed race people...
Imprint of B.F. Reimer, Philadelphia. CDV is 4" x 2.5" and in very good antique condition overall, with some spots.
