Original daguerreotype of a baby holding flowers, behind cover glass and a period, thermoplastic mat.... very unusual find. In my scan the focus does not appear as good as the image looks in hand, because the mat is so thick that the image is not very close to the scanner glass. I will try to add a cell phone pic soon, that should look somewhat better.
The case is a 1/4 plate, the dag is a 1/6 plate and is has been resealed to the mat at some point with newer archival tape. Both the dag and the case are in very good or better antique condition.
