Sixth-plate daguerreotype, 1850s, in pebbled leather case.
The daguerreotype look to have its original seals still intact (see pic 3), but I have never taken it apart to verify 100%. I do not see any scratches or abrasions, but there are several small corrosion specks on the plate. The glass has some debris stuck to the underside and is a bit dirty, but looks like it would clean up well. The double-clasp case is very nice, complete and intact.
