Sixth-plate daguerreotype of a little boy with long hair, wearing a patterned dress, one hand on a small table. To the left I think I see a sliver of the photographer's light reflecting screen. Bottom-right corner of the mat is stamped, "McELROY"... unsure of the location, best guess is Massachusetts.
Full complete case, separated covers, some leather wear. The dag appears to still have its original seals intact and is in excellent condition, light tarnish, but no obvious damage.. definitely no swipes, dings or abrasions. .. a few tiny mold spiders are visible, mostly around the mat edges, if I look hard under magnification. Underside of the glass is a little dirty, with some tiny specks stuck to it.. I'd say all, or at most one or two, of these pinprick sized specks are on the glass, not the plate.
