Original 6th plate daguerreotype, circa 1847-1849. Boy with lightly tinted face and hands, painted gold pinkie ring, seated in front of a nice bright backdrop.

Behind glass and paper mat. This came to me with the original seals intact, but the glass was dirty so I opened it up, cleaned the glass, and placed the broken seals back inside of
the case. I did not clean the plate, and it has not been resealed, but the pieces are tight and secure in the case. When I had it open I noticed it was a heavy plate with SCOVILLS
stamp along the bottom edge.

Tarnish ring, but no damage to the image. Small break in the bottom-right corner of the cover glass, but like I said, it's all securely fit in the case. Many or most of the specks are on the glass, including the fuzz looking stuff on his neck. The black dot on his cheek appears to be on the plate. Overall in very good or better antique condition.

Housed in a leather rose design case.. note that the design is different on the covers, but the case is complete and intact with no repairs.

No photographer or ID; out of a Wisconsin, estate.
