Original 1/6 daguerreotype, mid-1840s, woman wearing a pearl necklace, brooch, gold hair clip, and ring with painted gold highlights.
She's seated in front of a curtain backdrop, at small table with an object on it.. looks like it's probably a book, but it's odd because if so it's standing on end.
Under magnification it looks like there is *possibly* writing, so maybe it's one of those dated signs? Just a guess... however, when I look at the
book/sign under magnification in hand, I can't make out anything at all.
Dag is in very good antique condition with tarnish, tarnish ring, small mold spiders, etc, but no swipes or scratch damage noted, but there could be a one or
two pinprick abrasions that I missed.
It comes in half of its original case, which is missing its cover and damaged. The original seals came off in one piece so I put them inside the case and resealed
with archival tape.
