Original 1840s sixth-plate daguerreotype portrait of a school boy. There are several items on the small table next to him, including books and what looks to me like a newspaper. There is an open window or reflected light on the right. The plate is stamped "SCOVILLS" along the lower-left edge.
Housed in a nice full case with a great floral design on the covers. There is a label inside that says it was manufactured in Boston.
Dag has no seals but no mat abrasions in the normal viewing area. Some small abrasions underneath the mat. One small speck of green corrosion above his arm. The case is nice but the covers are separated along the spine. It was very weak and came apart after I took my listing pictures.
